INCLUSION SUNDAY - PRAYER FOR AWARENESS

God, Creator of all, help us to recognize that each of us has abilities and each of us has limitations. And yet we all have a part to play in bringing about Your Kingdom.

You love each of us profoundly. In the spirit of gratitude and solidarity, we ask you to increase our awareness of both the gifts and the needs of those around us.

Open our hearts, minds and doors to the gifts of every person. Help us to become truly welcoming communities where everyone can find their place at Your table. We ask this in Your name, Amen.

INCLUSION AWARENESS SUNDAY

Today we join other congregations in celebrating Inclusion Awareness Day, an integral part of the Pathways Awareness Open Hearts, Open Minds movement to include people of all abilities in worship and ministry. The movement encourages us to look beyond a person's outward appearance and first impressions and open ourselves to his or her gifts.

Pathways Awareness Open Hearts, Open Minds began in April 1996 with a conference on inclusion called by the late Joseph Cardinal Bernardin, then Archbishop of Chicago. The conference was the origin of a dramatic shift in public attitude toward including parishioners of all abilities in liturgy, ministries, fellowship, and leadership roles in parishes in the Archdiocese of Chicago. Today the initiative has grown into an interreligious movement with congregations across the United States participating.

A MONTHLY SUPPORT
GROUP FOR CAREGIVERS

The Family Caregiver Support Program recognizes that unpaid family caregivers provide the majority of caregiving in the United States. This is a time to share with others who face the same challenges with caregiving.

When:
Third Wednesday of each month

Where:
Catholic Charities NW Senior Services
At the Arlington Heights Senior Center
1801 West Central Rd. - Arlington Heights, IL

Time:
7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

HEALING MASS

The next New Jerusalem Prayer Community Quarterly Charismatic Healing Mass followed by individual prayers will be celebrated on

Friday, October 30, 2009
8:00 p.m.
in the Main Church at
At St. Matthew Parish in Schaumburg

Confessions will be heard from 7:00-7:45 p.m.
Rosary begins at 7:30 p.m.

Principal celebrant will be Fr. Aniello Salicone of the Xaverian Missionaries. Father Salicone began his healing ministry in 1995 following an extraordinary experience of God's love for each person. A central point of Father Salicone's message is that forgiveness and reaching out to others are fundamental to healing. He has celebrated healing services in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Illinois, Florida, Missouri, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, Wisconsin, Ohio and Italy. He has been our celebrant for previous healing Masses and is currently Pastor of St. Therese Chinese Catholic Mission in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood.

If you believe the Lord is calling you to receive prayer for healing, come. We would be blessed to pray with you.

(Quarterly Healing Masses are on the 4th Friday of January, April, July and October. St. Matthew is located in Schaumburg at 1001 E. Schaumburg Rd. between Meacham and Plum Grove Rds.)

"SIMMY!!!"
We continue to pray for the speedy recovery of OLW Youth Ministry's very own Sarah Szymczak. Sarah was in a car accident this past week. We are thankful that while certainly injured, through surgery, Sarah will be on the road to recovery. It seems like whole world is praying for Sarah. Let's continue interceding for continual healing. (This was written on Wednesday, Oct 7th).

KAIROS
A Kairos retreat can be one of the major events for a teen in the high school years, as well as a weekend they may remember throughout their lives. Prayer is the Key to Kairos. Please pray for the OLW participants this weekend:

TEEN LITURGICAL MINISTERS
One of the coolest things these past few months is to see so, so many teens becoming more involved with Mass in the Eucharistic, Lector, Music, Usher/Greeter ministries. Sincerely, this is inspiring to those of all ages.

A special thanks to the teens who participated in the Update Session last Sunday. Just a reminder: If you are a Eucharistic Minister but was not able to participate in last week's teen update, please make sure you attend an adult session. This is required by the archdiocese. Non-attendance will mean that you will not be eligible to continue as a Eucharistic Minister. Please check the bulletin for additional Update sessions this month and next.

PEER MINISTRY
Last week was powerful. Thank you for entering so wholeheartedly into the prayer experience. May our doubts and times of disconnectedness rise up to heaven as did the smoke from the fire. Know that Jesus walks alongside of you every step of the way. May we continue to share our moments of joy and struggle.
