Pictures Tell The Story: Lots Of Repairs Needed
| NO, NOT A DINOSAUR ... but it's getting pretty old. The boiler in the Elementary School is the original -- 50+ years old. Unfortunately, there is an asbestos abatement issue as well. |
| |
| THE CHURCH BOILER was 50+ years also but replacement couldn't wait. This new system was installed in 2007. |
| |
| THE CHURCH ROOF IS 28-years old and leaks in many places. This ceiling and wall damage is behind the altar. |
| |
| THE WASTEBASKETS AREN'T for trash. These two baskets in the Cry Room are to catch dripping water from the leaky OLW Church roof. |
| |
| MARBLE STEPS leading to the altar are beginning to show wear and, in some cases, are beginning to crack, creating a potential safety hazard. |
| |
| CAREFUL WHEN YOU SIT. Some of the pews (and kneelers) are in heavily-worn condition. Patchwork repairs, such as this, only last so long. |

| CHURCH AIR-CONDITIONING system works as efficiently as it looks. This view can be seen by all parishioners: north side of the church, from the walkway to the Gathering Place. |
| |
| 40-YEAR-OLD AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM at Our Lady of the Wayside Church is both inefficient and, in some places, actually crumbling. This photo provided by the Archdiocese inspectors shows duct work with holes (allowing air to escape). Photo is on the north side of the church. You can see the west entrance to the Gathering Place in the background. |
| |
| FORTY YEARS OF use is showing on the OLW Church air conditioning system. |
| |
| A FAMILIAR SITE: A heating company truck at the Father Mackin Center with a ladder going to the roof. The HVAC system is 40 years old -- 15 years past it's estimated useful life. |
| |
| MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS have to bundle up every so often when the heating system in the Father Mackin Center and Middle School malfunctions. The HVAC system is 40 years old, 15 years older than its estimated useful life. |

| IT'S BASEBALL SEASON! This is home plate for the Wayside school kids in the Parking Lot/Play Lot along Ridge Street. |
| |
| PILLARS AT THE NORTH PORTICO of the Elementary School are showing wear and tear -- and a need for patching and tuck pointing. |
| |
| NO DOUBT ABOUT the age of the Elementary School: Built in 1953, it's 55 years-old in 2008 -- and showing it's age. |
| |
| WHILE NOT A DANGER, the Park Street stairs that lead to the church (entrance adjacent to baptismal font) show some cracks and deterioration. |
| |
| MAIN ENTRANCE TO RECTORY on Park Street is showing some serious concrete crumbling. |
| |
| THIS PROJECT COULDN'T WAIT: New stairs on the Ridge Street side of the Father Mackin Center were built during the summer of 2007. The condition of the stairs had become a safety issue. |
