Chapter 3:  Courage of Conviction

Our next CFM meeting is this Friday, February 3th. The reading for this month is Chapter 3, titled “Courage of Conviction”.  Please take time to read the chapter and reflect on the Observe, Judge and Act pieces of the readings.

We have a very busy month ahead of us!

Adult Enrichment Event:  Saturday, February 11, Evening of Reflection

The Doherty and Mueller Groups have planned a great evening with speaker Father Corey Brost, C.S.V.  His topic, “Living as a Saint in US Culture Today”, is very relevant to our CFM theme of Saints this year and we hope you can join us for the evening.  The event will be held in the gym - doors open at 7:00pm, speaker begins at 7:30pm, light reception to follow.  This Enrichment Event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC so please invite some friends!  If you haven’t already done so, respond now at:  cfmevent@olwparish.org

CFM Family Movie Night:  Saturday, February 25 (moved from Feb 11)

The movie night for all CFM members will be hosted by the Carlucci Group.  There will be a movie for children (with parents attending) in the gym and a second movie for adults only in the Gathering Place.  More details to follow at Friday’s meeting.

CFM Coffee - Sunday, February 19th

Thanks to the McKenna Group for providing hospitality after the Sunday Masses at the January Coffee.  Next up is the Collins Group to host the Coffee on February 19.

Save the Date

Please mark your calendars for the upcoming group action at Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, March 17.  This is an action the whole family can participate in!

More details will follow at the March meeting.

Prayer Request

Please keep Mary Lou Gorman (Craig Group) in your prayers.  Mary Lou has been very active with CFM nationally, most recently writing articles for ACT.  She suffered a serious congestive heart episode on January 19 and is recovering from surgery.  We wish her a speedy recovery!

Congratulations

Michael and Christa Schermerhorn (Kabat Group) welcomed a baby girl on January 22!  Brigid Amelia Schermerhorn was born at 12:15 pm and was 7lbs, 3oz.  Congratulations to the whole Schermerhorn family!

Best Wishes

Best of luck to Father Peter, our CFM Spiritual Advisor, as he travels to Mexico for a medical mission trip.

Action Alert

Keep in mind the local food pantries:  The next time you are grocery shopping, pick up a little extra food to donate to a food pantry in need.  The Wheeling Township Food Pantry is located at 1616 N Arlington Heights Road, just south of Palatine Road.  Donations are received at the Township Monday-Friday, from 9am to 4:30pm.

Gridiron Alliance:  Last week an email was sent out regarding the Gridiron Alliance.  Please consider if you can help this ministry in its expansion endeavors.

CFM Acts

Thanks to everyone who brought diapers to the January meeting for the diaper drive.  PHD was very grateful for all the diapers and was astonished at the quantity that was collected!

Have a great meeting!

Tony and Mona Russo, 2011-2012 CFM Chaircouple

February 3, 2012 is National Wear Red Day

As many of you may know, heart health is VERY near and dear to my heart (pun intended) and I just want to keep spreading the word that heart disease is still the #1 killer in America.  In fact, more women die of heart disease than from all forms of cancer combined.  Education is everything!  Learn more from the American Heart Association at www.heart.org and www.goredforwomen.org and I hope to see you wearing red at Friday’s meeting!

 ~ Mona, heart attack survivor
